Why Handmade Wooden Boxes?

This business is the passion project of Steve, a Virginia native who spent his career as a master carpenter and after retiring wanted to share his love of fine woodcraft with others. For years he crafted handmade boxes for family and friends, helping commemorate everything from graduations and babies to memorials for pets and loved ones. Nothing makes him happier than sharing the experience of helping people preserve their most precious memories in a beautiful way.

Memory Boxes, Wooden Keepsake Boxes and More

When he first began working with hardwoods, Steve realized the distinct character and beauty of these woods would shine through with nothing but a clear finish. That, combined with their strength and durability, quickly made both domestic and exotic hardwoods his favorites to work with.

Boxes, in particular, are Steve's favorite pieces to craft because they can display several different features within one small item. There is nothing like the thrill of discovering interesting wood (sometimes after hunting through dozens of racks or stores), milling it down, visualizing designs, building pieces and then putting them together to build something what will last a lifetime.

Each box is handmade from start to finish, meaning every item is unique and one-of-a-kind. Many mass-produced boxes on the market today use computers and lasers with soft, inferior woods like pine and oak that easily splinter and chip. But Steve specially selects hardwoods for both their beauty and durability, with inherent, rich colors that require no stain. Colors never wear off but will stay warm and luxurious for years to come, and boxes will stand the test of time. They can even be passed down through generations.
